How We Make Decisions

All legislative initiatives at BESCO go through a transparent evaluation and decision-making process. Our direct democracy model ensures that our members play an active role in setting the organization's advocacy priorities.

  • Legislative Initiative

    Every initiative must serve the public interest and must not promote private or individual interests. Proposals can be submitted by BESCO members, the executive team, or the Board of Directors.

  • Initial Assessment

    The BESCO team conducts an initial assessment of every initiative to determine whether it serves the public interest, aligns with BESCO's mission and objectives, and reflects the organization's values.

  • Member Feedback

    Approved initiatives are submitted to BESCO members for a vote. This allows us to gather feedback and measure community support before the proposal is reviewed by the Advocacy Committee.

  • Advocacy Committee Decision

    Following the members' vote, the proposal is reviewed by BESCO's Advocacy Committee, which makes the final decision in line with BESCO's mission, values, and guiding principles.
