VisitSofia has chosen to support BESCO Hall of Fame 2026. They are the people who discover the diamonds of the capital and present them to its residents and guests.

Past

VisitSofia is a municipal organization founded in 2003 to promote Sofia as a tourist destination and to develop and establish the city as an attractive place for tourism, culture and business.

Over the years, the organization has expanded several times, covering a larger part of the Sofia region and launching a variety of new initiatives.

VisitSofia points to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as a defining moment. It was this very crisis that led the organization’s current director, Anton Penev, to become part of it.

Present

Six years after the pandemic, and with it the arrival of the current director, VisitSofia relies on hospitality and humanity in its relationships with its team, partners and tourists.

An important value for the organization is its sincere commitment to creating a real emotional connection to the city, and a love for it, in every resident and visitor. Every day, the team strives to protect the spirit and emotion of Sofia, to keep changing and building on its work, and to make VisitSofia an example of meaningful and dedicated work.

This is also what they name as their greatest success and the most valuable mark they have left.

With a focus on promoting Sofia as a modern, dynamic and welcoming European capital, the organization will continue to create new opportunities for people to discover the city and everything it has to offer.
